The Getty is a busy bagelry in the heart of Portsmouth, NH, founded in 2025. As we continue to grow, The Getty is seeking a General Manager to refine our systems and foster a creative, collaborative environment. We started with bagels, moved into lunch, and now have a small evening service as well. Your job is to work with the staff to both simplify the operation and expand the business as it finds its fit in Portsmouth.

Position

As the General Manager of The Getty, you will oversee all aspects of daily operations, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, customer service, and team performance. This is a hands-on leadership role in which you will be responsible for managing staff, optimizing workflows, and fostering a positive, productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships to ensure fresh, high-quality ingredients.
  • Monitor and maintain health and safety standards in accordance with local regulations.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and manage staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team culture.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, provide feedback, and address concerns.
  • Create and maintain staff schedules to meet operational demands while controlling labor costs.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure exceptional customer service by training staff and promptly addressing customer feedback.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, creating a welcoming environment.
  • Ensure team members maintain strong product knowledge through regular training and communication.

Financial Management

  • Manage budgets, labor costs, and profitability goals.
  • Track sales and expenses, providing regular reports to ownership.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue and control costs.

Marketing

  • Develop and execute the social media presence across platforms, creating regular content that reflects the shop's voice and drives engagement.
  • Plan and run in-store events and promotions to build community and grow evening service.
  • Manage branded merchandise and swag, from concept to sourcing to point-of-sale display.
  • Partner with local businesses and community organizations on cross-promotions and collaborations.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in restaurant management, preferably in a fast-casual or bakery setting.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Knowledge of food service operations, including scheduling, inventory, and budgeting.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with grace.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software, POS systems, and basic computer skills.
  • Current certifications such as TIPS, SERVE SAFE MANAGER.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $ 70k–$80k annual salary based on experience.
  • 5% profit sharing.
